PONTOS AI

A game changer in the fishing industry

The fishing industry is at a crossroads. Outdated methods, unpredictable seas, and overfishing are putting our oceans at risk. But Pontos is changing that. Through AI-powered solutions, satellite data, and real-time tracking, we help fishing companies make smarter, sustainable decisions. From identifying the best fishing areas to ensuring traceability and aligning with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Pontos is revolutionizing the way we fish. By integrating advanced technology into fishing operations, we’re ensuring the future of the fishing industry—one that thrives on both profit and sustainability.

Our story

PONTOS is the first decision support software that integrates a human and environmental dimension. A company that Luis Diaz launched in partnership with INRIA, the French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology. The company was born from his passion for seafood and technology plus the desire to lead a change.

After 10 years of activities in direct contact with fisherfolk on 4 continents to facilitate their access to environmental data, Luis was able to observe the daily lives of fisherfolk and the interest for them in developing the local dimension.

Sustainable fishing is a social issue as it guarantees stability and income for fishermen, and also for consumers thanks to the transparency and accessibility of products.

“Once the concept was tested, I went to Costa Rica to meet friends I admire among professional fishermen” explains Luis. PONTOS‘ adventure then began with the first fishing boats in a country highly aware of ecological issues.
